Despite the contribution from a genius like Mani Ratnam and good pre-release publicity, the film Kadal which was amidst high expectations ended up as collosal flop at the box Office.

Kadal is said to be the biggest dud and also recorded worst ever openings in Mani's career. Distributors all over Tamilnadu have incurred losses up to 70 percent. Even Mani's brand name, top-notch cinematography, Arjun-Aravind Swamy's brilliant performances, star kids Gautham-Thulasi and AR Rahman couldn't save the film.

The other day, over 50 distributors who bought the theatrical rights of Kadal reached Madras Talkies office demanding Mani Ratnam to compensate the losses incurred to them for trusting him.

It may be recalled that Mani Ratnam had returned some amount to the distributors at the time of Iddaru which is also a big flop. Let's see if he does the same now.
