In a historical move Tamil news channel Lotus had created sensation in worldwide by giving equal opportunity for transgender’s. The channel given an opportunity as a news anchor for transgender Padmini Praksh sent positive news for their recognition in india after five months of court ruling on their rights.

Padmini Prakash is India’s first transgender news anchor. She works at the Tamil channel Lotus based in the state of Tamil Nadu. Earlier to she worked as a dancer and then acted in Tamil soap operas before joining the news channel. She is an active campaigner for transgender rights. Speaking to media Padmini said "I was very worried because I also had to focus on my diction and maintain a steady narrative pace to ensure that there was clarity and viewers could understand me" .

Prakash’s ascendance is a study in how quickly judicial recognition can help foster societal change. The news flashed all over the world in leading new papers and through social media.
