TTD Board plans Free Tonsure

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is keen on implementing Free Service at all the Head Tonsuring points in the Hill Shrine from May 1st.
In Tirumala, Head Tonsuring is being done in 3 Places (Kalyana Katta, 2 Guest Houses) since 1985. The count has gone up to 15 now to cope up with the heavy rush.
After receiving frequent reports of barbers who are greedy for money harassing the devotees, TTD conducted a survey and shut down 8 Head Tonsuring points by shifting the staff to the remaining places. However, The Barbers Union is opposing this move.
Srinivasa Raju, joint executive office at Tirumala, declares decision to implement free tonsuring has been taken in principle and the new TTD Board will take care of it.
