Kuwait prime minister visits Jamia

Kuwaiti Prime MinisterSheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on a visit to India,Saturdayvisited the Jamia Millia Islamia, a93-year-old university that was born out of the Indian freedom movement in response to a call by Mahatma Gandhi.

Speakingon the occasion, Sheikh Jabersaid the true warriors in the contemporary world are the educators who build the nation. He said"Islam and Quran have emphasized on peace'" and insisted on the promotion ofeducation.

He also lauded the India Arab Cultural Centre of the university, which hosted the event. The Centrewas established in 2006 to promote cultural and educational collaborations between India and Arab world. The Centre has translated a large number of classics into Arabic language that include Bhagwad Gita, Ramayan and Mahabharat.

A photo exhibition on 50 years of India-Kuwait relations was also on display.

Al-Sabah arrived in India on a four day visitThursday.This is the first head of government-level visit from Kuwait to India since the post of crown prince and prime minister were bifurcated in 2003.

Vice-Chancellor S.M.Sajid highlighted the long and extremely cordial relations that India has with Kuwait.
