Andhra Pradesh state cabinet meeting was held by CM Chandrababu Naidu today and it took some key decisions in the meet.As per reports the cabinet has rejected the proposals of hike in power tarrifs. The cabinet rejected proposal made by APERC for 10 per cent hike in power tariff.

APERC has sought permission from the state government to affect a 10 per cent hike in fares. It has demanded the hike be approved stating that it incurs around Rs.7, 000 crores deficit in the next financial year that begins from April 1st.

But cabinet has not given nod and rejected the proposal. Hence, there will be no hike in power tariff in the AP state for at least next six months. With the decision state government has to allocate funds to ERC to fill the deficit. As the state is already running with financial crisis it may request help from central.

The Andhra Pradesh Government also decided to hold the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) separately. The Cabinet had given nod for new solar system and regularization of illegal construction. The cabinet is expected to meet again to discuss the issue of power hike.
