The process of dividing the RTC has been completed. The RTC has been divided into the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana units’ officially. Officials completed the exercise and the respective departments would become functional from May 14.

Despite the division, the RTC was among the few departments that weren’t divided. Division of employees between two states has already been completed. But distribution of assets and liabilities between them remains a knotty problem .Now, come May 14, the RTC would transform itself into APSRTC and TSRTC.

The assets and revenue divided in the ratio of 58:42 between AP and Telangana. The RTC board has allotted 63,481 employees, 94 depots and 9,310 buses to Telangana State. The TSRTC will have three zones, 11 regions and 352 bus stations.

Several assets, including the largest Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, Jubilee Bus station and millions of rupees worth of assets, Tarnaka Superspeciality Hospital, Bus Body Unit and others comes under the control of TSRTC.Currently, APSRTC earns Rs 19-21 crore daily by running 23,700 buses across the two states, including 11,557 in Andhra Pradesh state alone.
