Why Tirupati by-election isn't unanimous?

Congress foiled the attempts made by Telugu Desam party to ensure Tirupati by-election goes unanimous. The National Party fielded Sridevi as it candidate to fight the battle against Sitting MLA late M Venkataramana's widow Sugunamma in the by-poll.

Few days ago, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu telephoned Jagan and Raghuveera Reddy to request them to not to field their candidate respecting the old tradition. While YSR Congress obliged, Congress decided to fight the battle.

Tirupati by-election is scheduled to happen on February 13th. Sugunamma is likely to emerge victorious and Congress may loose deposits due to the sympathy wave.
