The Last Few Hours of YSRs Life!
X
After coming to power for the second time in 2009, Former Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy launched the 'Rachabanda' programme to have a face-to-face interactive session with the beneficiaries of welfare & development schemes of the Congress Government to know the ground realities.

T. Bhaskar Sharma (YSR's Additional Private Secretary) reveals Untold Facts about the Last Few Hours of YSR's Life: YSR have plans to hold Rachabanda at three place per day. On September 2nd in 2009, He was scheduled to visit Chittoor, Udayagiri (Nellore district) and Kondepi (Prakasam district). He directed Officials to collect details such as the population of villages & mandals, banks, hospitals, electricity, drinking water, road connectivity and etc., by the time he reaches those places.

Bhaskar Sharma sent the files containing the details of CM's Rachabanda programme reached YSR's house at 8.30 PM on September 1st. Sharma received a call from YSR at 4.35 AM on Sep 2nd. "Sharma! I will be visiting Anupalli (Chittoor), Varikuntapadu in Udayagiri (Nellore) and Kanumalla in Kondepally (Prakasam)," YSR told to Sharma. Again at 4.50 AM, Mr.Sharma received a call from Sureedu and he told that YSR wishes to speak to him. Then YSR gave the list of alternative villages (Diguvanamasapally, Boduvaripally, Bhinginapally) in those districts.

At 5.40 AM, YSR called again to check which helicopter will be used for the Rachabanda programme and the officials/minister who would be accompanying him. Bell-430 Helicopter which has a capacity of 3 people apart from pilots was chosen for the tour and the travelling time would be 2 hr 10 min. Hence, only CM, CSO and Principal Secretary boarded the helicopter. Minister Galla Aruna Kumari, Pileru Ramachandrareddy and Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy were asked to reach the Rachabanda programme in commercial flights.

Bhaskar Sharma received a phone call at 6.20 AM informing that CM will be leaving to Begumpet airport at 7.50 AM instead of 7.20 AM. YSR reached Camp Office at 7.45 AM and got into his car at sharp 7.50 AM.

While coming from the airport lounge at 8.20 AM, YSR asked Sharma: "I sought the appointment of Sonia Gandhi on September 12th and 13th. What about it?". Sharma told to CM that Pillai was taking care of it.

Then, YSR asked about PM's Tirupati tour and spoke for about 3 minutes with a news channel on Rachabanda programme. Thereafter, He sat down in helicopter at 8.25 AM. When the crew came to close the doors, YSR suddenly asked Sharma: 'How long will it take to reach the spot?'. After saying its 2 hr 5 min approx, Sharma said - 'Bye, Sir!' and in response YSR said 'Okay'. Those were the last words of Mr. Sharma with YSR whom he closely worked.

Bhaskar Sharma returned to Secretariat at 9.15 AM and called Chittoor SP at 10.35 AM to know if CM's helicopter landed. But, he was told CM hasn't arrived yet. Mr.Sharma made calls to SP at 10.45, 10.55 & 11.10 AM as well. Sharma was worried as the helicopter didn't land on time and suspected there might be an emergency landing somewhere. He then informed the matter to KVP Ramachandra Rao and Chief Secretary. He even tried to speak with CSO Wesli and Dr.Subrahmanyam, who accompanied YSR, over phone but there was no response. Soon, All the police stations have been alerted to see if there was an emergency landing.

In fact, Bhaskar Sharma bought his luggage with him to travel with YSR on that day. He even thought of requesting YSR and Pilot to allow him to travel in the helicopter but couldn't dare to make the appeal. Usually, YSR used to scold him as 'Panikimalinoda'. Had if Sharma placed the request, YSR might have reacted in the same fashion as he wants Aravind to accompany him.

Bhaskar Sharma's association with YSR began on November 1st, 1992. He claims the recognition he received is solely because of YSR and there isn't even a single hour in his life without the memory of the former CM.
