Jayalalithaa files Defamation Case against Website

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday filed a defamation case against the online portal Rediff.com for publishing two speculative articles related about her health condition.

On behalf of Jaya, Chennai city's Public Prosecutor ML Jegan filed the criminal complaint in the principal sessions court. In the complaint, Amma mentioned that the article with title 'Chennai media knew Jayalalithaa's health is not fine, but kept mum' was published without verifying the facts and with the sole intention to tarnish her image.

Five People working with Rediff were named as Accused. This include the online portal's Author Ramasubrahmanian, CEO, Chief Editor and Associate Editor. The complaint might be taken up hearing soon.

Since few days, There is lot of speculation in media regarding the health condition of Jayalalithaa. Even DMK Chief Karunanidhi demanded Jaya to clarify if she is suffering from any serious ailment. Now, Jaya decided to end the rumours with a defamation suit.
