Authorities Sunday extended for 24 hours more the curfew enforced in Pakistan's Rawalpindi city after violence erupted Friday between two groups during a Muharram procession.

It is feared that violence could erupt again after the burial of people who were killed during the clash in the city's Raja Bazaar area, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported Sunday.

At least nine people were killed and 50 others were injured in the clash.

Curfew was imposed Friday midnight for 24 hours in the jurisdiction of 19 police stations of Rawal town, Potohar town and Cantonment areas of the city due to tense situation.

Mobile phone services will remain suspended for an indefinite period.
