'Prema Katha Chitram' which was made with a low budget of nearly Rs 2 crore is a highly profitable film in the recent times. Although the title card read Cinematographer J Prabhakar Reddy as the Director and Maruthi as Direction Supervision
Actually, Maruthi was supposed to direct 'Kotha Janta' starring Allu Sirish long back but the project got delayed by few months. Meanwhile, Maruthi urged Allu Aravind that he would work for another low-budget film 'Prema Katha Chitram' in the meantime. The Mega producer was skeptical about the success of this thriller flick and he felt it would damage the reputation of his son's film if turned into a flop. As a result, he insister Maruthi to use 'Direction Supervision' instead of 'Director' in the title cards. Even film's hero Sudheer Babu mentioned on several occasions that it was Maruthi who directed the film.
