An Austarlian brewery company has insulted the beliefs of Hindu community by publishing the images of Hindu deities Ganesh and Lakshmi on the labels of alcoholic ginger beer bottles. The juxtaposed picture has Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha with the head of a Cow in one hand and fire coming out of the Lord Ganesha's head.

This has triggered a massive outrage from Indian community in Australia .Indian community leaders have called for the New South Wales-based Brookvale Union Brewery to apologise and immediately withdraw the labels.

The president of the Indian Australian Association of New South Wales Yadu Singh has called such a depiction by the brewery "disgusting".

“Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi are highly revered in Hinduism and they were meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines and not to be used in selling beer for mercantile greed Many people in India are upset too.” He added

Reacting to it, The Brewery company has apologized and asked 'graphic designers, artists and even doodlers' to come up with a better design by Nov 24.

In 2011 also some of Australian brands used the image of the goddess Lakshmi on a swimsuit at Australian Fashion Week which caused the outrage from Indian community. The company immediately pulled the item from production and apologised for any offence caused.
