Where are all the government employees, this is the question that the rnofficials of the government departments are asking these days. A rnthorough study of the staff of the government offices, school and other rncorporations has shown that the whereabouts of at least 1000 employees rnare not known to the Telangana government.

These employees have rngone on a long leave for a couple of months and then simply vanished. rnThey are not responding to phone calls and are not available at the rnpostal address given. They are not responding even to public notices. rnThese missing employees are now baffling the state government. Chief rnSecretary Somesh Kumar is said to have taken a serious view of the rnmissing employees. He has reviewed this several times during the rnmeetings with senior officials.

If sources are to be believed, atrn least 900 government teachers are 'missing." Their whereabouts are not rnknown. Interestingly these teachers are not attending to the duties and rntheir whereabouts are known since 2012. This means they are missing fromrn action for the last nine years. Surprisingly, the government rndepartments have sent four reports on the issue and each time, the rnnumber is varying. This shows that even the government departments do rnnot have accurate figures with them.

Similar reports of employeesrn going 'missing' have come to light from revenue, police and two other rndepartments. A police man going missing is a senior matter. Yet, the rnofficials are trying to push the issue under the carpet. This issue has rncome to light after the KCR government has begun asking for vacancies sorn that job notifications could be issued.
