The election commission has rejected nine nominations in Badvel and19 in Huzurabad bypolls. This was announced after the scrutiny of the nominations filed. While 27 nominations were filed for Badvel, as many as 61 were filed for Huzurabad. Thus, there are 18 candidates in Badvel and 42 in Huzurabad.
The officials said that the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 13 and that some more candidates could opt out of the election. The number could come down further. For instance, Eatala's wife Jamuna too has filed nomination papers as a dummy candidate. She would withdraw from the contest.
In a major relief for Eatala Rajender, the nominations of three independent candidates whose names have a striking similarity with that of Eatala Rajender, have been rejected. Immadi Rajender is in the fray as a candidate of the Republican Party of India. Similarly, Esampalli Rajender is fighting the elections on the symbol of the New India Party. Similarly, Ippalapalli Rajender, who is from the All India BC OBC party, is also in the fray. All these three nominations have been rejected.
The elections to Badvel and Huzurabad would be held on October 31 and the results would be declared on November 2. In Badvel, the TDP and the Jana Sena are not in the fray, while BJP, TRS and the Congress are the main contenders in Huzurabad.
