The AICC gamble of appointing Revanth Reddy as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee appears to have paid off. There is a surge in the enthusiasm of the party cadres across Telangana. Though there are still some hiccups because of the disgruntled seniors, on the whole the party cadre and the supporters seem to be enthusiastic. There is a new spurt in the activity of the party across the state.

This could be noted from the kind of enthusiasm among the party grassroots level leaders over Huzurabad bypolls. Though Revanth has repeatedly cautioned against over-expectations in Huzurabad as the party has never won from there after 1983, there is lot of enthusiasm among the party cadres about Huzurabad. Interestingly, party Telangana affairs incharge Manickam Tagore has recently held a meeting on Huzurabad and has given directions to the state leaders to work in tandem with the local leaders.

After this, key leaders like former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, DCC chief K Satyanarayana, Choppadandi incharge Medipalli Satyam and city chief Komatireddy Narender Reddy have began focusing on Huzurabad. The enthusiasm among the cadre could be gauged from the fact that at least 18 party leaders had applied for the party ticket in Huzurabad. The applications were accepted from September 1 to September 5. This shows the enthusiasm among the cadres.

Initially, the names of former minister Konda Surekha and former MLA Sambaiah were heard. But now several local leaders have come to the fore demanding tickets. The party's top leaders think this enthusiasm is a good sign and that this augurs well for the Congress Party in Telangana. It feels that the gamble of making Revanth the PCC chief is turning out to be a right decision.
