More and more YSRCP seniors are now preparing to pass the baton to their wards or close relatives. This only means that there would be young contestants from these political families in the 2024 elections. If sources are to be believed, at least 25 leaders have already indicated their children would contest the elections in the 2024 elections. They say that the number could swell up to 50 by next year.

Senior leader and former minister Perni Nani has virtually announced his retirement and said that his son would contest the next elections. As for Guntur, MLA Mustafa's daughter is already active in the party and is shouldering her father’s responsibilities. In Amadalavalasa, Speaker Tammineni Sitaram has already passed the baton to his son.

In Narasannapet, minister Dharmana Krishna Das too has sent signals that his son would contest the elections in his place. More and more seniors are coming forward to make similar announcements, Several MLAs and ministers have already sought permission of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to introduce their children into electoral politics.

Meanwhile, the opposition TDP too is passing through a generational shift. Several leaders like Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Jyotula Nehru have already introduced their children into politics. More leaders are likely to join the bandwagon. Thus, 2024 election promises to be a clash of young guns who want to protect their parent’s fiefdoms.
