A 61-year-old Nebraska woman gave birth to her own granddaughter after volunteering to be a surrogate for her son and his husband's child. There is no end to their joy when they learn that a girl is born.

Cecile Eledge became a surrogate to give birth to a child for her gay son Matthew Eledge and his wife Elliot Dougherty. They began IVF as an option for conceiving a child two years ago and said they were amused by Eledge's mother's offer to be their surrogate.

Matthew and Elliot wanted to have children and have a family of their own. After hearing their wish, Cecile proposed to carry their baby in her womb. She said they both laughed heartily when they heard that. She was then 59 years old. All the family members took the proposal as a joke. Considered impossible in practice. However, Cecile underwent a series of tests to determine if she was eligible for surrogacy. She said her pregnancy went smoothly throughout.

When Matthew told Elliot that he was going to marry him four years ago at Scott Catholic High School, where he works, they fired Matthew. At the time the news provoked outrage in the LGBT community. Both pre-school and current students and parents are urged to file an online petition against the discrimination Matthew faced. 1,02,995 people came forward in support of Matthew. Cecile said they are sharing their story with everyone to prevent discrimination faced by LGBT people.
