The AP police have arrested another seven accused in connection with the arson on the issue of renaming Konaseema as Babasaheb Ambedkar Konaseema district. With this, the number of persons arrested in this case has risen to 150. The police say that the investigation is still in progress and that there could be more arrests in future.

Those arrested are identified as Pilli Pruthviraj of Amalapuram, D Nagendra and Guttula Manikantha of Janupalle, Chollangi Dhanabhushanam of Indupalli, Kandregula Sivanarayana of Devarapalli, Kdali Anjaneya Prasad of Vadaparru and Dommeti Kiran Babu of Gangalakurru. Section 144 and Section 30 are still in force in Konaseema region.

Interestingly, though several of the arrested persons belong to the YSRCP, BJP and the Jana Sena, a large number do not have any political affiliation. As of now, the police have identified 268 arsonists. While 150 are already behind the bars, a search is on for the remaining 126 persons. Seven special groups have been formed to track them down.

The police are now trying to estimate the personal assets of each of the accused. Reports to this effect have already been prepared. The police are trying to recover the losses from those who have resorted to violence. Similarly, the police have also decided to open rowdysheets on each of the accused.
