A Year Of Style, Substance, Strategy
X
As YS Jagan Mohan Reddy completes first year in office, here's a lowdown on his style, substance and strategy. On this day last year, YS Jagan took oath of office amid a huge crowd and ended the five-year reign of Chandrababu Naidu. The one year that has just gone by has shown Jagan to be a leader of style, substance and strategy. Riding on the crest of a huge wave of popularity, he had won over 86 per cent of the MLA seats and 96 per cent of the LOk Sabha seats.

Despite the financial visiccitudes and deficit budget, what Jagan has achieved is stupendous. He has ensured that the people get the benefits of the slew of the welfare schemes that he had put in place. He has ensured that the amounts were transferred in full to the beneficiaries despite the problems. On the very day of assuming the office, he has affixed his signature on the file that sought to hike the pension amount from Rs 2000 to Rs 2250 a month. Having five deputy CMs, each drawn from different communities, has proved that he was determined to ensure social justice and equitable share of power.

Schemes like Amma Vodi, Vidya Deevena, Vasati Divena have shown his clear intent in improving the educational facilities to the under-privileged. To improve the lot of the rural population, he has appointed 1.34 lakh employees in the village secretariats. He has also got 2.75 lakh volunteers to help the people in the rural areas. Another revolutionary move is to reserve 75 per cent jobs in the industries to the local eligible youths.

Health was another focal area for Jagan. His schemes like Nadu Nedu, Arogya Sri and his attempts to bring in total prohibition in the state have been lauded by many. Similarly, his move to ensure that the BC, SC, ST and Minority women get 50 per cent of the reservations in the nominated posts and works has been praised by many social scientists across the country.Agriculture remained a priority sector for Jagan and his Rythu Bharosa scheme has been termd revolutionary by many.

Iron fisted anti-corruption policy has helped the government to take to reverse tendering of all engineering works and has thus ensured that the Government saved Rs 2080 crore. Jagan Government's focus on irrigation has ensured that 20.77 lakh acres were irrigated during the Rabi. At the same time, industry has been given special focus. As many as 39 heavy industries have begun production and as many as 34822 were provided with the jobs. Similarly, 13122 small scale industries were set up to provide jobs to another 63897 persons.

It was clear that Jagan has a clear strategy of his own. The one year rule is but a teaser trailor of what things could be and would be in the next four years. We once again congratulate Jagan on completing one year successfully and look forward to great times ahead.
