In a shocking incident, a candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party committed suicide after the party denied him the ticket to contest the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. The incident happened in the Rajouri Garden area and the candidate was identified as Sandeep Bhardwaj. He is the secretary of the trade wing of the AAP.

Sanjay was denied a ticket at the last minute. He was initially promised the party's ticket, but was denied at the last moment. Upset Sadeep, who is 55-years of age, hanged himself. He was found dead at about 4.40 pm on Thursday and the locals informed the Rajouri Garden police about the incident. The police sent the body for post-mortem. Sanjay was a divorcee and was living with his two unmarried sisters.

The AAP has been under fire for the last several days over allegations of demanding huge amounts for giving away party tickets to contest the MCD elections. Several ticket aspirants have alleged that at least Rs 80 lakh were being demanded for the party ticket. Severa MLAs have been in the dock over the allegations of selling tickets.

The death of the AAP ticket aspirant, who is also known to be a loyal party worker, has left the party workers and supporters in a state of shock. The BJP has alleged that the candidates are made to give Rs 21 lakh in the first instalment, Rs 40 lakh in the second and Rs 21 in the third. It said that senior leaders like Atishi Marlena were getting the money.
