Appointing advisors to the government and crucial departments is now new. The practice has been going on for a long time. The reason behind appointing advisors is to utilise their services. As the experts' opinion is crucial, the government uses the ideas and recommendations of the advisors for betterment.

But the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to have taken extra steps in appointing the advisors. These appointments have reached a point where even the government has no list of the advisors it has appointed in the last three and half years.

The advisors' appointment created a big issue that even went to the notice of the High Court. During the arguments, the Andhra Pradesh High Court made some serious comments and even asked the government how many more advisors would be appointed.

Now the Andhra Pradesh government asked the state government to give all the details about the advisors who have been appointed as of now. Following this, the government sent a letter to all the departments seeking details about the advisors who are rendering their services in their positions.

Once the details are gathered the government might submit the same as an affidavit to the High Court. The High Court earlier said that it will decide on the merits of the appointments as they are drawing fat cheques and are enjoying good benefits.

It is known that the advisors are taking lakhs every month as salaries. On top of this, they are getting other benefits like vehicles and quarters sometimes. A few advisors are given Cabinet rank so that they can enjoy special benefits compared to the rest of the advisors.

The High Court also expressed dissatisfaction with the advisors' appointment and asked if they are any special allocations of funds to give salaries to them. As a response to this, the Andhra Pradesh government is gathering details about the advisors who were appointed after the YSRCP came to power.

The issue reached the notice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh after petitions were filed challenging the appointment of advisor to the Endowments Department and government employees' affairs. This made the High Court direct the government to gather these details.
