AP High Court Gives Big Relief to Film Exhibitors, Multiplexes!

The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has not to-good experience in the courts in the past three years. In various instances, the courts shocked the government and made the ruling party face the hammer blows. Following the trend, the state government faced another setback in the court.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court which reserved the orders on the sensational online movie tickets row has shocked the government by staying the GO 69 that deals with the online sale of movie tickets. The next hearing was adjourned to the 27th of this month by the High court.

The stay imposed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court can be seen as a big and temporary relief for the film exhibitors and multiplex owners who are opposing the new government order on the online sale of movie tickets.

As of now, the state government cannot proceed with the issue as a stay was imposed by the court. A few big and much-awaited films are slated for a release this month and they might get a big sigh of relief.

However, the Andhra Pradesh Government which is adamant on the issue might even move the Supreme Court. There are possibilities. The Apex Court might lift the stay or support the stay saying that the concerned High Court is aware of the issue and the court will be the right pick to give the verdict.

Adding more troubles to the film industry, the state government brought the online sales proposal. The film industry tried its best in making the government understand their plight but in vain.

Even the delegation led by Megastar Chiranjeevi comprising the likes of Bahubali Star Prabhas, Superstar Mahesh Babu, director Rajamouli, and Koratala Siva could not succeed in changing the government's decision.

The Andhra Pradesh government brought the controversial GO 69 to facilitate the online sale of movie tickets. The state Film Development Corporation (FDC) was given the responsibility of overseeing the sales.

Online ticket platform Book My Show, Multiplex Vijayawada Exhibitors Association, and a few others challenged the GO and knocked on the doors of the High Court against the Government Order.
