Drug Seizure: Where Andhra Stands In The List?
X
Andhra Pradesh earlier used to be one of the most developed states in the nation. The Telugu state used to be dubbed Annapurna due to the state's GDP and growth. The revenue generated by the pearl city Hyderabad for the state played its role in this.

But the fate of the state changed at once due to bifurcation. Andhra Pradesh was divided without a proper capital city. While Telangana is getting bigger and bigger in growth and Goods and Services Tax(GST) collections, the situation of Andhra Pradesh is not that great.

Now the state has another thing to worry about as Andhra Pradesh tops the list of states where drugs were seized. The report released by the Union Government said that Andhra Pradesh is at the top position among the states where drugs were seized.

The 65th Founding Day of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence was held in the national capital Delhi the other day. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman graced the occasion and released the report on the drug seizure across the nation.

Based on the size of the drugs that were seized in every state they were given positions on the list. Usually, Goa comes to our mind when we talk about drugs and drug seizure. But Andhra Pradesh surprised everyone by topping the list.

The report said that Andhra Pradesh was at the top position as many as 18,267 kg of drugs were drugs in the state between 2021-22. On top of this, 90 people were arrested by the concerned officials in connection with drug seizures.

The difference between Andhra Pradesh and other states in terms of drug seizure is so huge that there needs to be a debate on how the drug culture is spreading its wings and how the state is losing its image.

The alleged drug culture and drug-busting incidents saw a big rise in the past two years in Andhra Pradesh. When the nation found it difficult to fight the Covid impact, the state fought drug culture. Drugs that were sent from Andhra Pradesh were reportedly caught at the borders of neighboring states like Telangana, and Maharashtra earlier.
