In what it could a shock to the Opposition TDP and the Political circles, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has opted to abolish the Legislative Council. The move got approved unanimously approved by the cabinet.

This move came after the TDP strategically made the Council Chairman send the bills to a selection committee for a deeper examination. Following this, rumors emerged that Jagan has decided to abolish the Council.

All these rumours appeared true when Jagan said in the State Assembly that having a council will be an extra expense on the state and there is no much benefit from the upper house.

In the Upper House, the Opposition TDP enjoys a lion share of members as the party has 27 MLCs out of 58 members. The ruling YSRCP has only 9 members in the house.

The Upper house is purposefully delaying the bills approved by the government be it the Decentralisation bill or the English medium bill. With the Chairman of the house being the trusted loyalist of the TDP party, the opposition is taking every benefit of it.
