Ongole, where the TDP is planning to hold its Mahanadu, is now the scene of a battle within the TDP. The two brothers who have been with the party all these years, are now at war with one another. Ongole district TDP president Damacharla Janardhan and his brother Damacharla Satya are now vying for the party ticket to contest from Ongole assembly constituency in 2024.

Interestingly, the Mahanadu is being organised after a gap of three years. This is the first offline Mahanadu after the TDP lost power in 2019. The TDP is trying to make this a memorable event with the participation of at least two lakh supporters. But, amid all these both Janardhan and Satya are fighting it out for the party ticket.

Janardhan lost to Balineni Srinivas Reddy in the 2019 elections. Now, he wants to have another go at the elections in 2024. However, his brother Satya too is planning to contest from the same seat. So, a turf war has begun between the two. Janardhan is trying to undercut the influence of Satya in the party as well as the constituency.

Not to be outdone, Satya erected several banners, hoardings and festoons in the city. He has ensured that there is no pic of Janardhan in any of them. Only the pics of Chandrababu, Lokesh and other senior leaders are present.  Though Atchen Naidu has tried to patch up between the two brothers, things are still continuing to be on the boil.
