Panicked by Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy's rebellion and plans to join the BJP, BRS boss KCR has reached out to former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao of Khammam. If things go as per plans, Tummala would be made an MLC and then a minister in KCR government. In case an MLC post is not possible, he would be given a party ticket either from Khammam or Kothagudem.

Amid reports that even Tummala is planning to get in touch with the BJP, an alarmed KCR realized that Khammam could slip of his hands if immediate corrective measures are not taken. Sources say that preventing Tummala from joining the BJP is important ahead of the much-touted Khammam public meeting of the party.

Hence, KCR invited Tummala to Pragathi Bhavan ten days ago and offered him a ministerial post. Soon after this meeting, Tummala suddenly became active in party affairs. He has begun working for the Khammam public meeting in earnest. He has begun mobilizing all his supporters to make the public meeting a success.

Tummala was keeping a low profile after his defeat in the 2018 elections. His problems began after his rival Upender Reddy, who defeated him in the elections, joined the TRS. Slowly, Upender Reddy took complete control of the party organization leaving Tummala in the lurch. As a result, Tummala began looking towards the BJP. To prevent him from leaving the party, KCR acted post haste and offered him a ministerial post.
