In a major win for the Andhra Pradesh government, the Ministry of environment and forest department that called for a meeting via a video conference on Rayalaseema Lift Scheme (RLS) issued orders that benefit AP.

In the orders, the Expert Appraisal Committee said that for this project there is no need for permission from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) paving way for the Rayalaseema Lift Scheme.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is not leaving any stone unturned to develop the Rayalaseema region designed the project in a way that 3 TMCs of water pumped daily.

This sets Jagan apart from other Chief Ministers from Rayalaseema region who didn't take steps in providing water for the Rayalaseema region so that the region witnesses development

Once the project gets completed, the drought region Rayalaseema will be provided water for both drinking and agricultural purposes.

The project required 397 Megawatt electricity making it the only project in the state to function at a larger scale. The project will be constructed in the Sangameswara region near the Krishna river.
