Andhra Pradesh Turning Out As UP In Changing Names?
X
Changing the names of the places and structures is a popular practice in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh. Slowly, the practice spread to Andhra Pradesh. However, the Uttar Pradesh government is changing the Muslim names are given Hindu names. Coming to Andhra Pradesh, the government recently changed the name of the NTR Health University.

While people are unable to still forget the controversy surrounding the NTR Health University, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government surprised everyone by changing the name of the Maharaja hospital in Vizianagaram. No one understands what is the need to do so.

Talking about the Maharaja Hospital, it was one of the oldest hospitals in the state. It was started by the Pusapati kings. The family gave big donations to the hospitals and helped the facility reach the position where it is now. The donations they gave count to around hundreds of crores.

The Maharaja Hospital is now changed to Sarvajana Hospital. When the NTR Health University's name was changed the ruling YSRCP said that YSR brought many initiatives in the health sector and he is a doctor by profession and that's why the decision was taken.

Now we have to wait and see what reason the government will give now. The Pusapati family played a big role in the conceptualization and funding of the health facility. Pusapati scion Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who earlier served as the Union Minister brought funds and helped in adding modern facilities.

The point here is, it would be appropriate to let the Maharaja name stay for the health facility as the Maharaja family maintained the facility for some years and made big donations towards it.

The other point is, what change the new name will bring. No matter what the name is, the facility has been serving the people. The Andhra Pradesh government has now to answer if it will add a few more facilities to suit the name of everyone's hospital.
