Another Shock To Indian Techies

The Trump government has rejected 25 percent of applications for H-1B visas. All applications were rejected from October to June (three quarters). US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) says the reduction rate has tripled in 2019 (25 percent) compared to 2015 (6 percent).

Among IT services firm, Cognizant witnessed over 60 percent of its initial applications rejected, followed by Capgemini, Accenture, Wipro, and Infosys. In 2018, the top six Indian firms got just 16 percent or 2,145 H1B work permits. Apple Cummins and Walmart are the three companies that have seen no change in the percentage of rejections. Immigration experts say such rejections rates for work permits could hit talent movement and thereby tech services companies.
