The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday paved the way for the vote counting of Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC). Though the elections were held back in April this year, the vote counting was kept on hold with the Court order.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami and Justice J.Uma Devi had struck down the orders issued by the single bench judge earlier on the vote-counting process. The bench had supported the elections.

Earlier, a single judge bench had stayed the vote-counting in the elections on the 21st of May on the grounds of not implementing the Model Code of Conduct as the code is supposed to be implemented four weeks before the election date.

The issue reached the High Court when a few contestants had knocked on the doors of the court saying that the Supreme Court's orders on the election code before the elections were not followed in the state.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court had earlier heard a petition that was filed in the court on the 5th of August. After hearing the case, the High Court has reserved its verdict on the issue. Keeping an end to the wait, the Court ordered for the vote counting.
