BJP's Priyanka Tibrewal to fight Mamata Banerjee in Bhawanipur

TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who lost the elections from the Nandigram constituency announced her candidacy in the Bhabanipur by-elections, one of the three constituencies that will see the by-polls as per the election schedule issued by the Election Commission of India.



The saffron party The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Priyanka Tibrewal as the party candidate for the Bhabanipur by-elections. Mamata and Priyank will lock horns in the by-elections.

Priyanka Tibrewal is a lawyer by profession. She had hit the headlines by filing petitions on the alleged post-poll violence that had hit West Bengal after the TMC recorded a landslide victory.

Expressing her confidence in winning the by-poll, Priyanka Tibrewal said Mamata Banerjee is running the polls just to reach the Chief Minister post. I will inform the voters of the atrocities done against the party workers of the opposition BJP in the state, she said.

She has been in the BJP since the past seven years. Priyanka donned the BJP in 2014 and she is holding the position of the State Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). Priyanka tried her luck in the 2021 General elections in West Bengal from the Entally seat and lost the elections.
