Based on the favorable conditions to live in the Indian cities that have a population of more than a million, the Union government led by Prime Minister had announced the Ease of Living Index 2020.
Karnataka capital Bengaluru, which also has the name of the center of India's high-tech industry bagged the top place in the list of ease of living. Bangalore overtook Pune to win first place.
The survey was conducted by the Union government in 2020. Not less than 111 cities took part in the survey. Long with the cities of over million population, cities with less than a million population have also participated in the survey.
Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Indore, and Greater Mumbai stood at the next positions after Bengaluru. To everyoneâ€™s surprise, Hyderabad was ranked 24 on the list.
Cities like Bareilly, Dhanbad, and Srinagar have been ranked lowest in the ease of living index. The assessment was done based on several categories.
On the other hand, Shimla has been ranked as the top city in ease of living with a population of less than a million. Bhubaneswar stood in second place. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs prepared the Ease of Living Index 2020.
The list was prepared based on the quality of life and the economical ability of the city. The opinions of the residents gathered by the Citizen Perception Survey were also taken into consideration.
