The Sunday BJP public meeting organised to receive key leaders from the TDP proved to be a huge success. The turnout was impressive and a large number of TDP cadres attended the programme in a big way. This has surprised the BJP top brass. The enthusiasm of the party workers was palpable. A large number of TDP leaders from various districts in Telangana have joined the party. The largest chunk of cadre came from Nalgonda, Khammam, Rangareddy - the three districts where the TRS had performed below par in both the Assembly as well as the Lok SAbha elections.
The BJP feels that almost all leaders except L Ramana and Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy have joined the party. Senior leader Devender Goud and his son Virender Reddy are also planning to join the BJP soon. They would join the party in Hyderabad. With this only Ravula and LV Ramana would remain the TDP.
The BJP feels this will significantly add to its strength in Telangana and will give it at least 4 to 6 per cent of additional vote support. This will make it cross the threshold in the state and get a significant number of seats in 2023.
