The recently held US Presidential elections revolved around granting citizenship for skillful immigrants. While Joe Biden openly batted for granting citizenship for not less than 5 lakh immigrants, President Donald Trump opposed the idea to grant citizenship for immigrants.

Months before the much-anticipated US presidential elections, which were held in November, Donald Trump passed a bill that suspends the H-1B, L, and other temporary work permits till December 2020.

Now, the new bill passed by the United States Senate on easing the process of issuing green cards for High-Skilled professionals gave a sigh of relief for Indian professionals.

The United States Senate has passed the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act` or S.386 bill. This bill counters at lifting the existing suspension on employment-based green cards.

The newly passed bill gained significance as the crucial bill, which doubles the percentage of family-based immigrant visas passed when lakhs of professionals are eagerly waiting for the green cards.

The official data says, every year, the United States issues not less than 140,000 green cards. With the new bill, the count of green cards issued will be increased to nearly 3,00,000.

All the eyes are now on the White House's opinion on the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act`. Once the bill gets approved by the White House, the bill comes into effect.

It's interesting to know, how President Donald Trump will respond to the bill. Earlier, he openly opposed the idea to grant citizenship to migrants. He went for elections by batting the same opinion which backfired.
