On Thursday, Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in jail for killing two blackbucks in 1998. This development is a big blow to the Bollywood Superstar as Rs 800 to 1000 crore has been riding on him at present.

The spirited fight of Bishnoi Community who served as the guardian angel of wildlife in western Rajasthan for over 500 years led to Salman Khan's conviction. Poonamchand Bishnoi, one of the two eyewitnesses, deposed before court to say it was indeed Salman who drove the gypsy and hunt blackbucks on the intervening night of October 1st and 2nd in 1998. The other one (Chhogaram Bishnoi) wasn't among the witnesses produced by the prosecution due to his ill-health.

Prosecution Counsel Mahipal Bishnoi: 'Poonamchand Bishnoi's statement as eye-witness to Salman's blackbuck hunting played a key role in the conviction'.

Poonamchand Bishnoi, who is now a contractor, feels happy that justice has been done at least now.
