BJP Joining Spent Forces Into Party

Why is the BJP joining spent forces into the party? This question is being asked in the political circles. Those who are joining the BJP amid much fanfare these days are all political spent-forces who have no future. Their vote catching abilities have diminished and their agenda-setting capabilities have vanished.

On Thursday, former MLA Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy joined the BJP along with his daughter Sabari. But a look at his political career shows that he is well past his prime. The last time he was an MLA was in 1999, which is a good 20 years ago. He lost 2004 and 2009 elections. He did not contest the 2014 and 2019 elections. He has hopped in and out of all parties. He began with the TDP and then formed Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi. In 2018, he joined the Congress and came out of it next year. Currently, he is in the TDP. He has stopped all his political activity in 2016 itself.

Despite all this, the BJP has shown extraordinary eagerness to welcome him. It tried to make it look like a big development. BJP biggies like Ram Madhav were present to usher him into the party in Delhi. "What is the use of getting Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy? He is out of the assembly for over 20 years. We should develop our own cadre and strengthen the party instead of banking on extinguished flames," pointed out a local BJP worker. But, no one at the top seems to be listening.
