The dispute between Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has reached to a level that Narayanasamy moved the High Court on the distribution of the cash in lieu for the free rice. The High Court will hear the plea next week.

Narayanasamy in his plea requested permission to continue the free supply of rice, edible oil and other essential food grains monthly for the ration cardholders.

Narayanasamy said that in the State Cabinet meeting on June 6, 2016, they have decided to continue the rice supply by increasing the limit from 10kg to 20 kg. Following this, from the August 2016 free rice of 29 kg has been distributed to ration cardholders

Responding to this, Kiran Bedi said, "Regrettably, the honorable Chief Minister is repeatedly making very unfounded statements. I leave it to the people to understand. Unfortunately, telling lies is not an offence. It is all about misinforming the people all the time."
