CBI Director-turned-Cabinet Minister Breathes His Last!

Film stars venturing into politics is not a new thing. We have seen this many times. Few of them became Chief Ministers and Cabinet Ministers. Very rarely we see officers turning politicians and serving people. Vijaya Rama Rao is one such rare personality. He did this a few decades back. He served as the director of CBI and later became a Minister.

The 85-year-old breathed his last due to health complications. After suffering a brain stroke, he was rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad. While undergoing treatment, he breathed his last. Condolence messages are pouring in.

He was a famous Police officer in the combined state and helr many big positions. Vijaya Rama Rao later joined the central agency CBI and rose to the level of Director. Starting a new chapter in his life,he stepped into politics and served as a Cabinet Minister in combined Andhra Pradesh.

He was born in Eturunagaram and went to Nellore for schooling. He started his career as a lecturer. Vijaya Rama Rao cracked IPS and belongs to the 1959 batch. In his career he held many big positions including Commissioner of Hyderabad.

Vijaya Rama Rao was promoted to the CBI and made the Director. He is regarded as one of the prominent CBI directors and investigated a few sensitive cases.

Adding big feathers to his illustrious cap as CBI director, he investigated Hawala, Babri Masjid case, and the Mumbai Bomb blasts case. Recalling his memories and experiences he wrote a book titled 'Police Manual’.

He also left his mark in politics. He joined the grand old Telugu Desam Party and became a Minister. In TDP's regime he held the Road and Buildings ministry.Later he took the TRS route after the state bifurcation.

After the news broke out, condolence messages started pouring in. Politicians from various parties are expressing their condolences. Police and CBI officers are also remembering the services Vijaya Rama Rao rendered when he was with the Police department and CBI. As per the reports, he was taken to the hospital on Monday and while undergoing treatment, he breathed his last on Monday evening.
