Despite the bravado that he would romp home comfortably, Chandrababu Naidu is preparing for other eventualities. Realising that the TDP might fall short of a majority, he has already begun opening up channels with the friends in the other parties. He wants to wean them towards him and form a government with them in the eventuality of his party not getting complete majority. He has already told the spin doctors of his party to talk to the former TDP leaders, now in Jana Sena and the YSRCP and convince him to come back to the TDP. He is also working out deals with them including offering of ministry positions to them.
He is said to have discussed this in the recent review meeting of the TDP. He has asked the party leaders to get in touch with those who recently left the TDP and joined the YSRCP. Similarly, there are places where the Jana Sena might do very well and win the seats. In that event, they also should be weaned away from their parties. He is said to have already prepared a list of leaders who could switch sides.
At the same time, he has also prepared plans to ensure that none of his MLAs cross over to the YSRCP. He is said to be keeping a close watch on the leaders, who belong to two particular castes.
