Charged-up Congress begins Operation Akarsh in Telangana

The Congress Party in Telangana, which is buoyed up with the massive victory of the party in neighbouring Karnataka, has upped its ante. Now, the party has begun a massive Operation Akarsh in the state. It is trying to lure all those leaders, who are strong and resourceful, back into the Congress Party ahead of the assembly elections later this year.

Interestingly, they have already approached both former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and former minister Jupally Krishna Rao. Both the leaders, who began their political career from the Congress, have just left the ruling BRS. The Congress has reportedly convinced them to come back. Efforts are also on, it is being said, that BJP biggie Eatala Rajender too is being vigorously wooed. Eatala himself has recently admitted to this wooing.

Meanwhile, there are said to be efforts to convince Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who had left the Congress and contested unsuccessfully as a BJP candidate from Munugode, to rejoin the Congress Party. His brother Venkat Reddy is still in the Congress. Sources also say that senior Congressman Yeleti Maheshwar Reddy, who had recently joined the BJP, too is in two minds.

If sources are to be believed, the Congress has sent emissaries to key leaders like Gaddam Vivek and former MP Konda Vishweshwr Reddy. Konda is currently quite active in the BJP. Similarly, former MP Gaddam Vivek too is playing a key role in the Telangana BJP. However, both the leaders are said to be disenchanted with the BJP in Telangana. So, the Congress is trying to get them back into the party.
