"KTR is going to become the CM and his swearing-in is scheduled for February 9. Please be a sponsor for the swearing-in of KCR at LB stadium. Please pay Rs 5 lakh." This phone call went to several industrialists and traders in the twin cities. Many paid up the money, but some were doubtful about the whole thing. So, they contacted the city police.

The city police have tracked down the person who made these phone calls. The person turned out to be a former Ranji player. He has been identified as Nagaraju, who played Ranji Trophy level cricket for Andhra Pradesh. Last year too, he had tried to con the CMD of a real estate firm in the name of sponsoring a cricketer for an international tournament. Meanwhile, enquiries also proved that KTR is not going to be the CM anytime soon.

Nagaraju is now on the run. The police said that he identified himself to the prospective 'customers' as Tirupati. Incidentally, KTR's PS also goes by the name Tirupati. So, many entrepreneurs felt this must be a genuine request from KTR and fell for the trap. The police are now trying to nab Nagaraju.
