Corona Effect: Whatsapp Usage Goes Up By 51 Per cent

See who is the happiest in times of Corona? It's social media chat app Whatsapp. Yes. The usage of Whatsapp has more than doubled ever since the Corona lockdown began. The reason? With the people confined to their homes in times of lockdown, the only way to communicate and converse is Whatsapp. Hence the exponential rise in the usage.
If surveys about social media usage are to be believed, the usage of Whatsapp has gone up by 27 per cent soon after the announcement of first cases of Corona in the world. Now that the virus has entered the first stage of the pandemic, the usage rose by 41 per cent. With the contagion entering State 2, the usage has gone up by 51 per cent. Interestingly, most of the users are in the age group of 18 and 35 years. In Italy, however, the usage of Messenger app has gone up by 70 per cent. Even video calls have gone up by 1000 times.
With most companies opting for work from home, the usage of social media, especially Whatsapp has gone up several fold. Checking on Whatsapp for latest Corona updates too has gone up considerably.
