The single-day Coronavirus cases in India are seeing new heights for the past few days. Showing no sign of dip, the fresh cases are scaling up steadily. All the developments made India report the highest single-day cases in over seven months. Compared to Tuesday, the cases went up by over 40,000.

Close to three more people were infected with the Covid virus in the past 24 hours after as many as 2,82,970 people across the country were found positive for the virus. The new addition of cases took the total number of infections to a whopping 3,79,01,241. The active cases stood at 18,31,000 as the count records the highest active pandemic cases in the country in the past seven months.

The Omicron is also infecting people slowly in the country. As of now, the Omicron-triggered infections stood at 8,961. The infections saw a slight increase of 0.79 percent compared to the previous day.

Though the fresh infections are increasing day by day, the national recovery rate looks promising. With a recovery rate of 93.88 percent, a total of 3,55,83,039 people were declared cured of the virus. This includes 1,88,157 people, who had managed to beat the respiratory disease.

Seeing the steady rise in the fresh cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with the key officials. Citing the rise in the new cases, the Prime Minister urged the officials to keep a special focus on putting more efforts to vaccinate as many people as possible in the country to stop the virus spread.

The nationwide vaccination drive against the deadly pandemic was launched by the Union Government back on the 16th of January last year. Since the inception of the vaccination drive, the campaign has been setting new records. After surpassing the 100 crore milestone, the vaccination drive had recently gone past the 150 crore mark.

As a shot in the arm to the vaccination drive, the Indian government recently gave its nod for the third dose of the Covid vaccine, the precautionary dose that is being administered to specified groups like health care workers, frontline workers, and people above the age of 60.
