BCCI vs DCHL: Cricket Board wins the battle after HC sets aside previous award!

After nearly nine years of legal battle, the cricket governing body Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has won against the Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd (DCHL). Both BCCI and DCHl have been locking horns with each other since 2012.

BCCI got a major sigh of relief after the Bombay High Court on Wednesday has set aside an award, which says the cricket board should pay DCHL an amount of 4,800 Crore.

The case involving both parties traces back to 2012. The BCCI has terminated the Deccan Chargers Hyderabad team from the Indian Premier League(IPL). The franchisee alleged that the decision was illegal.

The DCHL has moved the Bombay High Court against the BCCI. Justice (retd) C.K. Thakar had ordered the cricket board to pay over Rs 4,800 crore and an interest of 10 percent to DCHL as compensation.

Now a single-judge bench led by Justice Gautam Patel has ruled out in favour of the BCCI and set aside the award.
