As the employees of various trade unions and associations are still protesting against the Centre's move to privatise the Vizag Steel plant, the govt made its stand clear again.

The union government has filed the counter affidavit in the Andhra Pradesh High Court as a response to the petitions filed against the privatisation of the steel plant.

Union Government Secretary RK Singh has filed the counter affidavit regarding the Vizag Steel plant on the behalf of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union Government.

In the petition, the secretary made it clear that the Centre is firm on its decision to privatise the steel plant and there is no going back on this issue.

Saying that the courts cannot intervene in such matters, the secretary had appealed to the Andhra Pradesh High Court to quash all the petitions filed.

In the petition, the secretary on the Centre behalf said that the decision to privatise the steel plant and disinvest in the plant was taken in January by the Union Cabinet Committee.

Stressing on the decision taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, the secretary said that the members of the Committee include top dignitaries like Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Home Minister, Corporate Affairs Minister, Steel Minister and Petroleum Minister.

The Centre even made it clear that the employees woeking at the steel plant would be removed if needed. The process of inviting bids for the plant was started and the employees cannot urge to stop the privatisation, the centre said.

The centre's decision to privatise the Vizag Steel plant that has the history tracing back to over five decades has sent shocking waves across Andhra Pradesh and the employees have been protesting against this.

The employees question how come the government wants to privatise the plant which was established after several people sacrificed their lives and lands for the plant.

Looks like no matter what the employees and the associations say, the union government is of the opinion to go ahead with the privatisation of the famous steel plant, which is the most beautiful feather in the cap for the shore city Visakhapatnam.
