The fresh infections of the respiratory disease continue to surge day by day in Andhra Pradesh, with 1062 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours taking the toll to 22,259.

On the other hand, 12 people succumbed to the fatal virus in 24 hours and the total fatalities in the state in connection with the disease zoomed to 264.

As per the health bulletin, 27,643 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, and 1062 people were found positive for the fatal virus. Out of the newly reported cases, 1051 were of locals while nine Returnees of other states and two Foreign Returnees contacted the virus.

In a piece of good news, the recovered cases in the state are higher in number than the active cases. The recovered cases stood at 11101, including 1332 fresh recoveries, while the state has 10894 active cases.

Kurnool(2722), Anantapur(2568), Guntur(2435) turned out as the worst-affected districts in the state and account for around 60% of the total infections in the state.
