After the Indian athletes shined big at the Rio Olympics, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the athletes and spoke to them. Modi had ice cream with PV Sindhu and he spoke to a few athletes after they were knocked out of the tournament. This is one side of the story.
Quite in contrast to what the BJP is telling about the respect, it gives to athletes, a few players were served food in a toilet when a state-level kabaddi competition was held. This happened in Bharatiya Janata Party's stronghold Uttar Pradesh and the video was all over social media.
A few female athletes alleged that when the sub-junior level girls' kabaddi competition was held at Saharanpur earlier this month, they were fed food in the toilet. Adding fuel to the allegations, the video made it to social media and the opposition parties lashed out at the government.
Though the government refused all the allegations, a few officials from the sports department were reportedly dismissed from service in connection with the case. An inquiry has been called into the issue by the government and further details are awaited.
However, authorities said that the players were not fed food in the toilet and only the utensils were placed there due to rain. They even doubted a conspiracy behind this to target the government.
