Does Chandrababu Need Modi's Permission?

Poor Chandrababu Naidu. While a lot is happening in Andhra Pradesh during the Covid lockdown, he has remained confined to Hyderabad. So, he is missing photo ops and publicity opportunities these days. Much to his chagrin, the YSRCP is hogging the limelight. Its leaders are moving among the people, helping them out and are monitoring the relief activities, while the TDP looks paralysed.
Now, Chandrababu Naidu has asked the Central Government to permit him to visit Vizag to take stock of the situation arising out of the gas leak in LG Polymers. He has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for permission to visit Vizag. Naturally, the PMO has treated this letter with the contempt it deserves. The point is the police are issuing passes for anyone in need. Using them, one can cross inter-state borders and go wherever they want. Chandrababu can very well talk to KCR and Jagan if he really wants. But, he has not approached both the CMs.
Many feel that due to his age, Chandrababu wants to be safe during the times of Corona and has thus confined himself to Hyderabad. Since the lockdown, he has not stepped out of his home. So, this whole episode of seeking permission is meant only for publicity, say his detractors.
