He was till recently the shining star of the YSRCP in north Andhra region and vied for leadership space with a giant like Botsa Satyanarayana. But, of late, his stock seems to have fallen and his position nosedived within the party. He is none other than Dharmana Prasad.
Till the 2019 elections, Dharmana Prasad was the most important leader in North Andhra along with Botsa Satyanarayana. He is a senior politician and it was he who launched the career of his brother Dharmana Krishna Das. But today, he is not even a minister, while both Botsa and Krishna Das are ministers. Not just that, Krishna Das is also one of the five deputy Chief Ministers in the state. In Wednesday's cabinet reshuffle, Dharmana was ignored and a newcomer was made the minister from north Andhra. Why is Dharmana being ignored? This is the hottest topic being discussed in North Andhra political circles.
Sources say that some of his comments at a public meeting in Amadalavalasa recently have not gone down well with the party. He talked of even taking on YS Jagan on the issue of forming new districts. This must have upset the leadership of the YSRCP and this, analysts say, could be his undoing.
