The wait is finally over. To end the long wait for the election schedule for the poll-bound states in the country, the top election body in India, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced the election schedule for the five states which see the general elections.

According to the announcement, five states Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh will face the elections and the elections will be held in a phased manner.

The seven-phase elections in the five states will start from Uttar Pradesh. While the polls will be held on the 10th of February, the votes will be counted on the 10th of March. The key call was taken by the ECI after considering various aspects including the Covid scare.

Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra called for a press briefing just a while ago to announce the election date and schedule for the poll-bound states. While announcing the same, the ECI had issued a few guidelines

The election notification for the five states will be issued from the 14th of this month. More restrictions came in place and not more than five people should take part in the campaigning activities. Seeing the situation, the political campaigns shall be held virtually, the ECI said.

With the Election Model Code of Conduct coming to effect in the poll-bound states, restrictions will come in place and no rallies and meetings will be allowed until further notice.

As the Covid scare is not over yet, all the polling centers will be equipped with facilities like sanitisations and handwashing. Without fail, the polling booths will be sanitized. The election staff will be vaccinated with the two does of vaccine

The Chief Election Commissioner asked the voters to look for any violations of the model code of conduct and if any violations are found the same can be reported at the C-vigil app.

The election body directed the political parties to mention the reasons behind selecting the candidates with a criminal history for the general election. This is going to be a tough time for the political outfits. The criminal background of the candidates should also be mentioned.
